Homemade Deodorant Recipes That Actually WORK!
homemade natural deodorant DIY Deodorant Recipe (secret ingredient, NO irritating baking soda, EFFECTIVE recipe)! When I finally ran out, I got lazy again, and went to just using baking soda to pat underneath my armpits, and found that it really helped with sweating and smelling. I just use pure white vinegar with a few drops of tea tree oil in a little spritz bottle for Deodorant and it works great if I put it on after every shower and every morning. Seems to me, she said her favorite thing thus far has been the rock\" deodorant.
I really liked this recipe except ……. Now that its summer and hot here in Michigan the deodorant is literally dripping from the container when I go to put it on (liquid!). There are many variations of the ratios of arrowroot or cornstarch or clay — and each individual body is unique — so it may take playing around a bit to find your ideal combination. Since my first natural deodorant purchase, I`ve learned how to make many (not all, but many) homemade products. I`m dying to give it a try but I had a question- the recipe calls for 1/2 C + 1 tsp beeswax. I like to address this up front to displace the common assumption that homemade products are made simply for the savings… savings is just one handsome benefit. It may not seem that way right now, but if you switch to light and airy spray, you will think stick deodorant is downright archaic and dense. I`ve found this recipe to be very successful but I do sometimes get irriation from the baking soda.
If the deodorant jar is large enough you could leave the deodorant in the jar and try heating it in a double boiler, then adding the oil directly in the jar (and deodorant) and stirring. Great easy-to-use fresh smelling deodorant with a cool feel to it. And it works real well! It`s a pH thing- the baking soda makes your underarms unhospitable to odor-producing bacteria. For some people, JUST coconut oil works for them - maybe you are one of those lucky folks! I would strongly recommend not using the same essential oil for an extended amount of time. I`ve been using my own homemade deodorant for two years now, and I have no desire to go back. Some folks also just skip the baking soda, others have luck with simply coconut oil, and others find that certain brands of baking soda have fewer contaminants. Once the beeswax pellets are melted take your pan off the heat and stir in the remaining ingredients. Then measure out an equal amount of baking soda, and add it to the corn starch.
We just brought on a stick deodorant from Ursa Major that has been very popular in the store for those who are a bit more hesitant to apply deodorant with their fingers,\" says Amy Murphy, store director at Follain Beacon Hill. Stick deodorant may not become slimy and sticky when it gets wet, but it definitely can have its own issues when you begin to sweat. Use an antibacterial deodorant soap: Wash daily with an antibacterial soap such as Dial or Safeguard.
A few days later, my deodorant was running low, and I came up with this solution. Respondents also feel too many deodorant products, with similar effectiveness and consumer outreach messages, have made it difficult for consumers to be loyal to one brand. Now it`s all on you whether to purchase natural deodorant from shop or whether to prepare it at home by using all the required ingredients.
If you want it in a stick just add a little cocoa butter to it. It hardens but gives it a nice glide too. I`ve tried lavillin and some other natural options, but none of them are as good as the homemade stuff! I decided in the midst of a rainy Fourth of July barbecue that I would no longer use my deodorant. Coconut Oil - This favorite oil of mine has natural antibacterial properties that help kill bacteria that cause underarm odors. I got a rash when I used it and shaved (it contains baking soda), it took 3 days to heal. Baking Soda : 1 part — There is a misconception that some brands of baking soda contain aluminum. Jen is in sunny Florida so her coconut oil is often creamy + more liquidly, than if you were using coconut in colder temperatures. If you`d like a softer deo, my initial thought is you could try melting it back down and add a couple of tablespoons of coconut oil.
I prefer making my own beauty and body care products when possible and this homemade deodorant is one of those items that`s easy to throw together in a few minutes. You don`t have to wait for solid deodorant to dry and it also moisturizers the sensitive skin of the armpit. Add in the coconut oil slowly, until the mixture starts to thicken and look like paste. Tea Tree Oil is also a good as it is antiseptic, antibacterial and anti fungal but maybe it wouldn`t mix so well with the coconut smell. I started out with Soft and Dri spray deodorant, because that`s what my mother used and that`s all there was. I`ll prefer a simple, cheap, odorless deodorant made of a substance that is known to be safe.
